2018 OPENING DAY AT MAKRAY

Less than 2 weeks before our 2018 Opening Day, this is what a few of us looked like at the Cubs game on April 27th, when the windchill was 40 degrees. It was very cold and luckily for us it was fleece blanket day...and we needed those blankets! The best part of the day was CUBS WON and I got to sing Go Cubs Go with the entire crowd for the first time in my life as a Cub fan. It was awesome!

Well, the weather could not have been more beautiful 12 days later on May 1st. Unlike last year, when it wasn't until May 16th that we were able to start golfing. 

Do you remember how cold and rainy it was on opening day and how many of us went home and then returned for lunch? I must say, we did have a whole lot of fun at that luncheon, though! We turned lemons into lemonade that day, for sure.

This year Mother Nature was much kinder to us. Everyone was at Makray bright and early and ready to roll at 7:45am. Under clear and sunny skies, the course was in great shape and a few changes to the course were noted. 

The hosts of our luncheon were Barb Francione and Barb Wetzel. The dish selected and the dessert Walter created were out of sight! Thank you for a great lunch. 

Barb Wetzel created beautiful live flowered centerpieces which were won by the person with a red dot under their chair. My apologies to Barb Wetzel but I don't know the name of the beautiful golden flowers. I just know they looked great!

Our hosts Barb and Barb also gave each one of us a small burlap, string tie bag with a Makray golf ball and a package of tees with a ball marker. Thank you again for those gifts.
